F.A.Q
What is a hanbo/tanto for?
Our products are designed as training aids for adults practicing martial arts with professional supervision. They are most often use for practicing stick fighting and knife defence techniques. Due to the nature of the product they can cause injury if they are used irresponsibly. We recommend joining a martial arts school and learning the art in a correct and safe manner. Please note they should only be used by over 18s and as part of training in a martial arts school. Kitsune Ironwood assumes no responsibility for incorrect and irresponsible use of our products.
Which martial arts disciplines use hanbos and tantos?
Lots! The disciplines include but are not limited to ninjitsu, ju-jitsu and manny others.
How does the bespoke service work?
Fill out the contact form on ‘contact us’ with your requirements. We will get in touch to discuss and gather as much information as possible. If we have the required wood type in stock we will get going straight away and are most likely to have finished your item within one week. If we do not have the wood in stock, we will contact our suppliers and source it for you. On the rare occasion where the wood is not available we will suggest a suitable alternative. If you would like personalisation such as a particular size, your name carved, patterns or anything else we will happily do this for you.
How is your wood from a sustainable source?
Simple: our wood is handpicked from an ethical and government registered recycling supplier. This means we are able to offer extremely high quality and durable wood as it is often sourced from construction sites and recycled trees.
What does Kitsune mean?
Kitsune is Japanese for the nine tails fox which you may have spotted on our logo above! The nine tails fox is a creature from tradiational Japanese mythology. The nine tails fox would serve as a guardian of the emperors. We feel that Kitsune pays tribute to the strength of our product and to the Japanese tradition of the martial arts disciples to whom we supply. All of our products are stamped in packaging bearing our unique logo so you can be assured that you are buying an expertly crafted hanbo.
What if I’m not happy?
No problem! We offer a 14 day no quibble returns service. Simply return the product in it’s original packaging and in an unused condition to us and we will happily arrange a refund/exchange. We are confident that you will love your purchase but if there are any issues please do contact us and we will do our best to resolve them.
